Bangor has a quasi-professional baseball team now that I've gone. To my *infinite* delight, the team is called "The Bangor Lumberjacks", and the burly, red-headed mascot is "Jack Timber." Note the symbol for the team: a bat-axe. My GOD, this is genius. I will spend the rest of my time here roving the town looking, hopefully not in vain, for merchandise.

Newspaper article: While California is convulsed politically over the move to recall Gov. Gray Davis for supposedly screwing up the economy of that state, the citizens of Bangor are more laid back — bemused may be the word — over a petition drive aimed at recalling seven of that community's nine councilors over a single decision.
The council voted to donate about $380,000 to fix up a local college stadium for use by the Bangor Lumberjacks, a privately owned minor league baseball team. Councilors saw it as an economic development issue but recall organizers view it as a big waste of the taxpayers' money. Throw the bums out.

Acquired: Jack was signed as the number 1 pick out of Lumberjack camp in January 2003. Jack showed great ability to swing the ax which made him the top choice of the Bangor Lumberjacks. Jack Timber loves all the fans at the stadium, especially the little ones. Jack enjoys long walks in the woods and whittling in his spare time. Jack wants to see you at the ballpark this summer and make sure you say hello to him and cheer really loudly for your Lumberjacks!
